The Pmod SF3 is a non-volatile memory module that provides users with 32 MB of storage through the use of Micron's NOR Flash memory (N25Q256A). The module communicates with the host board via the SPI protocol. By bringing the Chip Select line logic level low voltage, users may issue a single byte instruction code to memory chip. The memory is byte-addressed with the range of 0x000000 to 0x1FFFFFF and is organized into 256 byte pages, 4 KB subsectors, and 64 KB sectors. The memory is written by using an Erase-Program cycle. The smallest programmable unit is one page and the smallest erasable unit is 1 subsector. Users that wish to simply use the memory module without concerning themselves with the dual/quad input and output communication may use the example code and tutorials found on the Pmod SF3 Resource Center at digilent.com.
Pmod Series Overview
The Digilent Pmod (peripheral module) Series is a small, low-cost peripheral module that can be used with a wide range of embedded systems and development boards. It is designed to extend the capabilities of embedded systems and development boards by adding new features and functionality. The Pmod communicates with host boards using 6, 8 or 12-pin connectors that can carry multiple digital control signals, taking advantage of standard serial protocols such as SPI and I²C. This allows for more effective designs by routing analog signals and power supplies only where they are needed and away from digital controller boards.
